FarRider No. 125

WWW
« on: January 28, 2009, 04:29:51 PM »

Pinched this from another forum.....

Some of you may have met Tex and Bundy (his dog) who travel around by bike raising money for charity, in particular kids.

Seems like there is a move to ban it with animals unable to travel on a bike between the rider and handlebars.

From memory, Tex and Bundy are FarRiders, and have also done a SS2000K.  I met them at the Sydney Motorcycle Show, I'm not into petitinos as I think they are a waste of time usually but I'm all for signing this one.

I maybe wrong, but I beleive Tex has a special dispensation form the Mt Druitt Police for ALL charity rides !
But that may only apply to local rides !!

Anyway - lets sign it for them.

The new NSW rule 297:

"......(3) The rider of a motor bike must not ride with an animal on the petrol tank of the motor bike."

Tex should trade the 'busa in for a bike with the tank somewhere other than where Bundy likes to stand.

e.g. a Buell (frame) or BMW 800 (under the seat).

It was the first really big ride Tex had done in some time although he pulls 1000k days quite often. He puts a LOT of time effort and money into raising money for many causes. I am proud to call him a friend.

Thanks for posting it mate, signed up on another forum.

The people pushing this law have never seen a sheep dog on a property. I've seen as many as five riding on an AG bike and have had up to three on a 175 with me over the roughest imaginable country. A dog on a tank is safer than a human on the pillion

I am sure that this type of offence is also now illegal in other states. I am sure I saw something on the FJR Forum stating that a similiar law had come into force in Sth Australia over the Australia day weekend.

Here we go, here is the link:

http://www.forum.fjr13.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1002&p=9270&hilit=laws#p9270

You can guarantee that if these 2 states have done it, others have as well, or they soon will.

They are to become NATIONWIDE by June 2010 - I have been lead to believe.

But there are other people on the forum who may be able to qualify and quantify this............
