Someone I know said: 'It's good to have a plan so you know what you are deviating from' I like it. Having the ride planned out properly measn you are well prepared and in better shape to make adjustments if you need to.

And just for the record, I knew the Tiger's odo read low, but not how low. Google maps and Hema distance to NH: 1750, odo, 1683.

I don't think we need to increase the distance above 1000.
I recall an IBA discussion about increasing the entry level ride distance because someone felt there were too many people doing it. The argument against was that they would have to pull everyones quals and make them ride again.
Davo's statement

But apart from that I intend this to be a honesty thing, the goal is to do a 1000 klm day minimum each but you are only cheating yourself if you don't. There will be no prizes, no certificates, no badges. Just a group of like minded riders meeting for a feed and chat.
Says it all.
Maybe a first timer needs to "prove" distance, but the ability to trust each other is important too.

My ride was planned but "messy".
Started at 8 am with docket. photo and a half hour chat at Kumbarilla,  fuel at Tara at 12:14.
through Condamine - Roma  fuel at Mitchell at 15:41
Fuel and turn around at Augathella at 18:05
Fuel at Roma 21:08
Fuel at Toowoomba at 2:27, I had done about 1560km at this stage and didn't know if I would reach Warwick.
The thought of an IBA ride was there but not foremost in my mind, the ride and photos was more important for me.
This is the second time I have done a 1600 plus and almost a 2000/24hrs.
The first time was 2000/27 this time was 2000/25.
Documentation would not meet IBA standard but It was a great ride, except for the rain.

Better stop now as It's starting to look a bit like a trip report  lol lol lol lol

Don't have a GS.  Mine is an R (Roadster).  I was with Dee on his black M109R.  We headed up the Ox in the wet just after Mel joined us.

I saw that many bikes that FRi arvo, esp. on the New England, but definately saw Paccy on the toy and in some company (my error), they waved back at the blue strom with the wet rider wearing a fluoro vest.

My odo reading was 1001  Hide so I used that for check in - Phil used the GPS of 1013 and Google Maps gives us 1019 - who knows what my bike is up to but I reached the minimum knowing I had a small safety margin with the GPS. Phil lost his speedo completely so we bought the new GPS in Tamworth  Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up

My odometer reads 4% slow cause I corrected the speedo with a healer. Kates odo reads 1.5% slow. As Kate mentioned, I lost my speedo on the way into Tamworth. No speedo, no odometer and not prepared to rely on google maps so I bought a Nuvi 500 for $299  Grin . Accurate speedo and odometer  Grin Up and a new GPS to boot ....  Grin Grin 1013 and a clear conscience. With the errors I wrote into google maps by not understanding EXACTLY where I was going to ride in each town, I would have fallen short by 5 km. We had to ride down toward Macksville and then track back to ensure the correct kms...
I will always take a GPS reading over an ODO reading. Had that discussion with Davo when I talked about an SS1600. He said just zero the GPS and submit that with the bike odo as a backup but know the calibration difference ....
