If I don't post a lot in the next day or so this is why.

I took Roku (Kawasaki Australia's 1400GTR) down to Maroochydore to Team Moto to get new tyres on this morning. As I was paying for them I asked for the best at the lowest cost. Turned out to be a new but been on the shelf a while (not their fault they were delivered in) set of Dunlop D218 (old D205's I think)

Well at 10am I left their shop, stopped at the lights, turned right and whammo.

Front end just went, not going fast, riding careful as I do on new tyres.

Roku has severe RHS fairing scrapes, RHS pannier, minor muffler, busted RHS riders peg, and worst is that it spun away from me and the lower black part of the fairing has a 40mm approx hole ground into it and this ground away and cracked a cover under it. Oil was seeping out.

They are getting a new cover and foot peg up from Sydney and I will find out later how KMA are going to handle this. I have as most know a very good relationship with them.

Me?

I was only going maybe 10kph so just a heavy hit on my right shoulder.

I am home, my wife came to pick me up. As usual the pain comes later, I have minor damage to each knee, right hip, major pain on the right shoulder and my chest right side but overall it will all fix itself.

The guys ran straight over to help lift the bike as I was in the middle of a 3 lane section.

Stuff happens, all going well I will pick the bike up on Friday so I can ride to Melb Saturday. Unless my shoulder does not get better. As it is I am typing left handed and couldn't even get my boots of cloths off.

Had to happen, that's mine for the next 5 years.

Bad timing Davo - Heal fast and put it down to one of those learning experiences.  Sorry it happened, but really pleased you are relatively unscathed.  Ditto the bike, but it's of less importance.  Damn!  Not much else I can say.

Very sorry to hear about your bad luck today, Davo.

Condition of the bike doesn't really matter, as long as you (the rider, any rider) is OK.
Well kind of ............

Hope the pain is not too bad.
Know you'll be in the saddle again soon.

Just get better, mate.

PS: stay on the net, just watch (no need to type) - I'm sure I can find a few things to cheer you up a little

Bad news Dave, glad to hear you are OK, not the sort of thing you want to happen just before going to the US.

Sounds like you were very lucky the following traffic didn't clean you up.

Get well soon eh.

Not the best news but glad that you kinda ok!  If this had happened at speed, you probably would have only a few scratches and maybe a tear in the gear.  Priority One - Get well.  Up

I'm gob smacked.  Shocked Very sorry to hear about this mate but really really glad it's not worse.

You probably know all this from previous "war" injuries but it's my concern that you don't mention if you've been checked over by the doc's, had xray's to confirm no bone damage so, I'll assume you've sustained only soft tissue injury. I'm worried about your shoulder and chest (ribs) as these can be a real problem.

I know you're tough as old boot leather Davo and wont let this stop your IBR attempt. Main thing is to recuperate, heal well and heal quickly, no doubt having Willow looking after you will speed up your recovery no end. Sending prayers, healing thoughts and best wishes to you for a full return to 100% match fitness.

All the very best to both of you.

I am with Bazz...

You may not like the sound of it, but I urge you to see a doctor, have an X-ray... nly then will you know what you can't shouldn't do.

The guys are right, the shoulder can take time to settle...

When I threw my 400 away this Feb, my shoulder took almost 4 months... and I had no broken ribs, bones, etc.

I most certainly do wish you well and a quick recovery, and you might bite the bullet in dropping a ride and recover than doing them all.

Remember its a mental thing (as you well know).

thanks everyone, knees & hip are not so bad now. Shoulder still is, may have it looked at tomorrow.

Wil asked if I had looked at my jacket, I hadn't and when we did the right elbow armour was ripped out. Minor skuffing on the gloves and tops of two fingers ripped open. Had ordinary jeans on and 2 small holes but both knees had cuts and had bled a bit.

It's ok, I will survive.
